I was planning on making a cake for a male employee of ours for his birthday. I figured I would do two 8x2" round cakes stacked. Since he likes to play Magic the Gathering, I thought about doing a FBCT of one of the backs of the cards (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/aa/Magic_the_gathering-card_back.jpg/250px-Magic_the_gathering-card_back.jpg)
and placing it on top. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to jazz up the cake, perhaps with icing colors, boarders, or designs around the sides of the cake?

So you mean you're doing one cake that is two layers or you are doing two cakes? Sorry...that part confused me. icon_rolleyes.gif

Do the cards have runes or anthing like that on them? If so, you could pipe those on the sides of the cake - that would look cool.

As for colors, lime, purple, and black look really cool together.

I'll be making one mix, two 8x2" round layers and just stack them.
