I am going to be making a cake for my parents 34th anniversary and need some ideas. I have looked at the cakes in the galleries and nothing jumps out at me... anyone got anything for me?

I also am going to be making a cake for a little boy's 1st birthday... it is only going to be 3 people there or so since all his family lives far away and won't make it. So, I need it to be a great cake for them, but, not too big. Any ideas for this one?

Please help me out! You all are so very creative and I hope that you can come up with something for me!

Well, I have nothing for an anniversary except maybe a replica of their wedding cake? Something incorporating their style or favorite color?

1st birthday small cake--Try cutting 8 x 8" square cakes into 4 x 4" blocks, frost them and stack them like baby blocks in bright primary colors. I did one with three blocks in red/blue/yellow for a baby shower that was really fun....

Wilton's new Tiered Cakes book has some neat ideas, too.

That's all I have...

i agree wiltons tiered book has some neat ideas. is there any kind of theme for the 1st b-day cake, or invitation that you could try and copy.

for the anniversary a replica of the wedding cake is a great idea.

For the anniversary, how a about a ganache covered cake with chocolate(maybe white chocolate) dipped strawberries.... I'm in the mood for strawberries >:}

For the kid a double layer 6 inch round decorated with bold colors.... maybe with a bear, clown, Elmo, Superman (popular now) or something on it? Ooh, a Superbaby themed cake could be cute.

Kat

What do your parents enjoy together? Do they collect anything? Have any hobbies? Favorite vacation spots? Participate in any groups, clubs, church, or activities? Do they have any pet names for each other you could spin off of? Do they have expressions they always say? How about a favorite song or favorite celebrity? Write back with some of these answers, and we'll help you think of something.

For the baby, you could make a one-mix layer cake ... keep the layers separate. One will be the "smash" cake, the other will be for the adults to eat. Decorate with any theme ... usually babies that age don't have any favorite things yet ... I always ask my customers what the motif of their bedroom is, usually I do something that has to do with their wallpaper or other theme in their bedroom.

A "smash" cake is the baby's own cake. He can dig his hands into it and glop it all over himself to his heart's content.

as fas as my parents... the one thing that the do together every year is "santa" They have a business that they do santa visits together, santa at the mall, etc. It is a very BIG thing for them. That is the only thing that they really do on a regular basis, other then travel between 3 states to visit their children and grandchildren! They live 300 miles away from me so I do not have access to look at a pic of their wedding cake. I wish! They are coming to visit me next week and I want to do this as a suprise for them. I would show a pic of my parents for all to see my father in his santa glory, but, I can't put it on here!

Thanks for any ideas you all have!

Do you have an 'early' picture of them that you can haver made into an edible image? I think a then and now cake would be cute.

As for the baby, just do a teddy bear cake and let him/her go at it.

there's an answer....

celebrate 34 santa years..."the best gift"

could do stack of presents cake...all the wrapping w/ a santa theme

could do santa and mrs resting in front of fireplace, rudolf instead of dog

could do a sort of snow globe thing

seeing peppermint wheels and candy canes and gumdrops...a cake that looks like a gingerbread house?

santa and mrs kissing under the mistltoe

(after all ...its Christmas in July!!)
