I was wondering if anyone has ever froze fresh strawberries? If so, how long can you keep them frozen?

I freeze them all the time. I wash mine, and then slice them, and cover with a little bit of sugar and then freeze them in freezer bags. I've kept mine in the freezer (with no issues eating them afterwards) for no longer than a year.

I also freeze mine. I wash them, dry them off with paper towels and then freeze in a single layer on a cookie sheet. When frozen, place in freezer gallon size ziploc bags. This keeps them individually frozen and easier to remove then as a whole mass.

I've always wondered if this was possible, not only for baking purposes though. MY family loves strawberries and we had a strawberry patch before we moved, but are not able to get them to grow in our new location and I always wanted to stock up on them when on sale!! Thanks!!

When you freeze them individually, they're great to pop into a smoothie. Just thaw a little bit (I toss several in the microwave for about 15 seconds) then toss in and blend with your other smoothie ingredients... YUM!! icon_smile.gif
