I will be attending my very 1st Wilton Cake Decorating Class tonight and I was wondering what to expect.

Can anyone shed some light?

Probably a discussion on the different consistencies of icing (stiff, medium and thin) what to use them for. How to fold a parchment triangle and very basic info on tools of the trade!

Your instructor will probably take you to the cake decorating isle in the store and show what you will need/want for the class. I would bring some paper and a pen. Have fun!!!

Your instructor should show you how to torte and/or level a cake, how to make buttercream icing and the different consistancies, how to hold the decorator bag for different techniques, and what different techniques you'll be learning in Course 1.

A paper and pen is a great idea to have on hand for notes.

Have fun! You'll love it!

So glad to have seen this. I was supposed to have my first class last night, but the instructor wasn't there. Turned out her daughter had heart surgery (think she said ... I remember surgery of some kind), so she kind of forgot she had class. Planning on doing it next week though ... hopefully
