Does anyone here do marble cake? Marble was always my fave. Can I make marble cake using a box mix and adding something like applesauce instead of oil or something to make it tastier?

Or would it be better if I just made one layer yellow and one layer chocolate? BTW this cake is for my son's birthday so I am flexible.

Thanks so much

I love marble cake as well. Try using buttermilk for your liquid (add an extra 1/4 cup), and some good vanilla extract.

I don't use mixes, but I think you could add some vanilla to the chocolate part of the marble cake as well. Use about 1 tsp. and about 1/2 tsp. of almond extract.

I've done marble cake. I do one batch of yellow and one of choc and alternate dollops of batter then when the pan is full, I run a knife around in a swirly fashion and whala! You can also look through the recipe section for ideas on things to add to a mix to make it tastier.
