Hi,

My husband finally gave up smoking a year ago, and we are all so relieved.

I want to make a special surprise for him. He loves Black forest cake, so my initial thought is to make a round Black Forest cake.

Make a cigarette/cigar with marzipan or candy clay and write on the cake:

"Now you can smoke this cigar and eat it too! Congratulations!"

Does that sound too cliched?

Any suggestions?

I'm very grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Karen

How about something like..."a breath of fresh air"? That's pretty cliche too, but thought it would be more positive than a cigar that he really can't smoke....maybe he'll get cravings again. icon_confused.gificon_surprised.gif
(I'm trying to quit, so I feel his pain! icon_sad.gif )

You guys are great! Thank you so much. I am going to go with Dale's idea. My original idea sounds so boring now!!!

I am also hoping to do a chocolate transfer of a foot , in a football boot, kicking a "smoking permitted" sign.

Wish me luck!

Karen

Thanks imartsy, dale, MavericksMommy, mhill91801 and petitesweet.

I managed to finish the cake about ten minutes ago. It was a crazy race against time.

I have posted the picture of the cake in my pictures. Not very fancy or elaborate, but it is exactly what I wanted, and I am happy.

Thanks again for your help,
Karen

Your cake looks great! I thnk you did a wonderful job, and I love that idea of kicking butt! I'm sure your husband will love it, and congrats to him for quitting!

Thank you mhill91801,

You know, my daughters and I nagged him to quit for years, and then realised .... we had to quit nagging first!

Last year he decided that he would quit, but didn't tell us when.

He bought the book, "The Easy Way To Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr and he says it helped him a lot.

All the best,
Karen

The only idea that came to mind was a foot stomping out a cigarette (or cigar) and write "Glad you stomped your habit!" but that's just as cheesy icon_smile.gif
