I have a question about delivery. I have a three tier stacked cake plus two side cakes. I'm deliverying them seperated and then putting the cake together when I get to the reception site. The cardboard will be the same size as the cake so there won't be any "overhang". How do I box this up so that the cake doesn't move in the box? Also, how do I handle the cake (if it's buttercream) since I don't have board sticking out to grab onto?

I put that non slip drawer liner in my box so it won't shift in the box. I also take my larger offset spatula to get up under the cake to get my hand under it to take it out of the box.

Plus, you might want to bring extra bags of icing to fix up any mishaps. Just a thought!

I also use the non slip shelf liner (i pick up rolls for 97 cents at walmart. I start by cutting up large pieces and as i need smaller ones I cut them up until the roll is gone) The thing I have found works the best is cut a strip of shelf liner not a square.

Example: You have an 8" cake board, cut a strip 6" x 12" so that it sticks out two sides and you can get a spatula or finger tips under the other two sides easier. The length may need to be adjusted to fit into the box you are transporting in, but hopefully this helps you get the idea.

I have been looking for a nice sturdy Pancake turner. If you have one I would suggest it. This would get you the extra support you need to lift up one side and support while you get your other hand under it. I only have the largest Wilton spatula and it can get a little flimsy on the larger cakes.
