Has anyone used these for fondant? (Assuming they were dedicated to fondant and NOT used for playdough icon_smile.gif )

You might could get some neat designs with it...this set is a bit pricey, but compared to cake tools...

I am wondering whether to try out a cheapo roller-toy, or like one of the ones for fries or something.

I use toy tools all the time. Children's plastic toys are safe to be around food because it's assumed they'll be put in mouths. I just don't use them for anything other than food, of course. I have clay tools I use all the time, although I don't have the ones in the link. They look like fun, though. icon_biggrin.gif

My son has a set alot like that one--for playdough use icon_cry.gif While playing with him I have often wanted to steal his toys for fondant. The "hair" one I think would be neat to have.

I bought me a playdoh machine on clearance. I LOVED using it for fondant. I was pushing out all sorts of ropes and things just playing with it.

I played with it all evening and there were bits and pieces of fondant stuck in the little crevices, so I soaked and scrubbed all of it out. I had it on the counter drying and my kid took and and used it for PLAYDOH!!!!

I reclaimed my machine and scrubbed it thouroghly, is it safe to use for fondant again? I am SO not happy with that kid who was specifically told several times that she could not have it.

Okay. I am getting some toys. icon_smile.gif I will have to check the dollar stores.

I would assume that anything that had playdough in it is fine as long as it is washed. Playdough is non-toxic. Run it through the dishwasher...should be fine!

My kids use my cookie cutters and rolling pin all the time for playdough...

I think they assume that a certain amount of playdoh will be put in mouths and even swallowed to, lol. That is if they know my kids icon_wink.gif

just how safe is play-doh ---> so safe it doesn't require a MSDS (material saftety data sheet. according to their FAQ: http://www.hasbro.com/playdoh/default.cfm?page=faq it's mostly flour, water, and salt so safe for all expect those w/ gluten allergy...hmmm that tells me they KNOW kids will eat it.

oh and it's their 50th B-day!!! look at this cake: http://www.hasbro.com/playdoh/default.cfm?page=50thbday_cake

and for the truly adventerouse...eu de play-doh parfume: http://www.hasbro.com/playdoh/default.cfm?page=50thbday

This is really interesting 4gifts4lisa! Hadn't thought of this before! Guess I'll be spending even MORE time in the toy department this year. ha ha. Doug, loved the playdough cake. Neat to see, so thanks for sharing.
