Hi everyone...I got an order to do a "princess or girly" cake for a little girl turning 4 for this Friday. It is only for 12-15 people, and they want a "layer cake". It for a friend of my brothers and so he gave me the details..but I'm just not so sure what to do. I thought of giving them 3 ideas or so all of different difficulty and price range and calling tomorrow to see which they like the best. I would just like any help at all on what all of you would suggest. Thank you!

I'm not a very creative person...I would search the gallery for princess cakes. There are TONS of ideas there with many degrees of difficulty. I bet you could find exactly what you're looking for.

If they want a layer cake for that few people I would suggest an 8 or 10 inch SINGLE layer on the bottom then a 6" DOUBLE layer stacked on top. You could do a royal icing crown, or pick one out of the toy department so she'll have something (and it will come together quicker for you)

Another idea I have seen is a pillow cake (although I haven't figured out the best way to make them yet.) If you had that with a crown on it That would be a layer effect I would think.

Or if they are thinking Disney Princess them, then you could do a stacked cake like suggested up top, or do 8-6-4 (all single layers) off set from eachother so you have like stairs, then add the disney princess figures and have like a red carpet going from the top to the bottom layer.

Hope these help.

Leily

Thank you guys so much for your suggestions. I did search and found some great ideas. I thought also about doing a 10 in with a 6 in on top...I have to transport it 30 min so i'm a little nervous about that..but we'll see. I do also have one of those barbie molds too so I thought aobut putting on top of a 10 in. I also have to write..'happy birthday abby' somewhere on it. We'll see. Thanks again!

For the doll cake, I have made her holding a sign with the "happy birthday" message on the sign. I have also written the message on a curling ribbon and strung it between the doll's hands. You don't want to write on the dress ... but if the doll is on another cake, you can write on the cake.

I made a stand up Cinderella cake for my Daughter for her 5th birthday, she loved it and it was rather easy. You can view the picture in my photos.

I have done 4 (I think!) tiara cakes and have an order for another one! They are really simple, but pretty cute! I usually do a 2-layer 8", fill and frost, use the diamond impression mat on the sides, with tiny dots at the intersecting points, and a dollar-store tiara on the top. They are a big hit with the younger girls, but I have also done them for 15 and 16-year olds. Attaching a pic of the most recent one, but I have other pics in my phots if you want to look at them! Good luck, can't wait to see your pics!

Thank you! No, they really are $1.00! I have bought pink ones and purple ones. I find them in the toy section, and they are in a package with matching earrings and sometimes a necklace or bracelet too. They don't always have them in stock, so if they have them I buy 2 or 3 at a time! One time I found some at Walmart on clearance, but they were still $3.00

I like the pink 8-inch that mommymarilyn did, it's adorable, but I also like leily's idea. Although all little girls like doll cakes.......... sheesh, hard decision, isn't it?
