I have to do a cake for a housewarming this weekend...it's a stacked 10 and 8. She wants buttercream icing.....but is leaving the filling up to me. What goes best with buttercream? Caramel? Strawberry? I usually use Crusting Cream Cheese w/strawberry...that's the only filling I've ever done.

She dislikes Raspberry, blueberry and lemon...what does that leave me with icon_cry.gif

I dont think it is what goes best with buttercream, but what goes best with the flavor of your cake. I think everything goes with buttercream! I personally like chocolate ganache and bailey's chocolate mousse(with chocolate cake) There are really endless choices, I think it would be helpful if you told us the flavor of the cake. Try here for recipes or www.ladycakes.com, www.wilton.com, baking911....

Ooops....it's just a plain butter poundcake. The Bailey's chocolate mousse sounds wonderful! I also found some other posts about using caramel oil in the buttercream to bring it all together.
