Hi all!
I was in Barnes and Noble yesterday. As I walked in, there was a large stack of books..."Cakes and Cake Decorating, Step by Step". Since the book was only $9.98, I bought it. It is by Angela Nilsen, Sarah Maxwell & Janice Murfitt. (And I have no idea who they are, but I bet British or Australian, since there are a lot of fruit cakes and royal icing cakes there.)It has some great ideas in it and basic cake decorating techniques. It is in full color and I think comparable to some of the $30.00 and $40.00 books out there. I checked on the internet and Barnes and Noble is selling it there. On another site, they wanted $39.95 and that included a 20% discount. So, if you don't have any books, this might be a good place to start.

I know this is an old posting, but I found this book on Amazon for $6.95, and it has a LOT of really neat ideas!. Yes, there are a lot of things done with fruit cake, (a British thing), but oddly enough, I have had a recent request for a fruit cake wedding cake. So I ordered this book, and I like her very basic and deatiled approach to things! Look for this at Amazon.
