So I was planning on making a capital J out of candy melts to use as a cake topper, but I don't like they way they are turning out. So I need something else I can use. I was considering roses, but I haven't done roses since my Wilton class last year (I know, I'm a slacker).

I only have buttercream, and I have no experience using any other icing right now.

It's a two tiered stacked cake, purple on the bottom and pink on the top tier.

Any ideas what I can put on the top? It's only a 6 inch top...

Help please!!! I need to finish this cake tonight!!!!

Make a sugar cookie "J" and ice it in BC and stand it in top.

You could do the capital "J" but use some white chocolate or royal icing.

I would write her monogram on the top with your purple bc...or just even "J" with a swirly or scalloped border around it. Just keep it simple and it'll be beautimus!

>>> is she getting any kind of gift that would fit in a small gift wrapped box that could be put on the top?? (would look really great if the box seemed to be standing on one corner (thanks to a hidden skewer going through box side and into cake!)

>>> dimestore tiara -- after all I bet she thinks she's the queen!

>>> an item representative of her hobby? her sport? her music likes?

>>> of course there's a big store bought bow w/ lots of curling ribbon cirlicues cascading down.

>>> and then there's those "firework" thingys...wire w/ metallic streamers
