I just came across a store yesterday only about 30 miles away that carries Magic Line pans, tips coloring and more. They are quite a bit more expensive than wilton products. Ate they worth the additional cost. Also as anyone tried their icing coloring, luster dust or dragees (I think that is how it is spelled) I have only used wilton or americolor (which I love but have to order or drive over 2 hours to get). Any advise would be appreciated as I am going to go back next week. Thanks in advance

I didn't know that Magic Line made coloring or luster dust, but I've been a huge fan of their baking pans for years. they beat Wilton, hands down, IMO. I like their weight, their straight sides and clean, sharp edges. They are well worth the extra money. thumbs_up.gif

I am very new to cake decorating but I learned here on Cake Central.
Magic Line pans are better so is a Americolor food coloring. I use them now and wished I didn't spend all my money on all those Wilton Pans when they had a sale but I guess they were 50% off

Go Magic line if you can afford to! I am slowly replacing my sheets and shapes with magic line, I have NEVER gotten a smooth edge out of my wilton pans like I do magic line. I too did not know they had luster dust.... but I am sure it is good.. everything else is. I personally use Americolor because I love it... but am always open to try something new icon_smile.gif I wish I had a store nearby that sold magic line pans!

OK now you all got me thinking about the brand name of the coloring. I will definetly have to recheck that on Saturday when I go back. I think I will start with replacing my sheet pan with a magic line. Oh I can feel a major dent in the checkbook coming on lol. They also had some kind of fondant that I might try. Thanks

Hi! I'm in Reno- is this the Floral Supply on Glendale you are talking about?

If so:

The colorings are magic line, and they are great. The luster dust is not magic line but I've used it, it's good too. The fondant is Pettinice which I've never used.

The man who owns the store is awesome, and can order just about anything you want. Also, let him know if you do a lot of cakes and will be coming in a lot- he'll give you a discount!

Magic Line is what I wish I had bought also. I currently have a huge black garbage bag full of my Wilton stuff (about $250) sitting in my pantry that I'm taking to the local Habitat next week.
I've replaced just about all sizes with Magic Line pans last week. It was an expense! The Wilton pans are great for when your starting out but as mentioned, if it's affordable for you, go with Magic Line pans. After searching online for at least a week for best prices, I found that "Into the Oven" and "The Ultimate Baker" sites had pretty good pricing/shipping.

The pettinice fondant is wonderful to work with as well as it tastes pretty good. For molding (bows, etc.) I sometimes add gumpaste in with it.

Mom2LiamandQuinn yes that is the store I went in there to get some party supplies and not been there in years and was surprised. I am going to be back in Reno on Saturday and I am definetly going to buy one of the magic line pans. Have you tried the colors? Also was surprised at the large selection of other items such as tier plates, wedding supplies (not that I do any of that) and cake topper kits.

I love my magicline cake pans....they hold up so much better and the edges of the cakes are nice and straight. They are well worth the money...

I have mostly Wilton too, but I just ordered a couple of Magic Line in sizes I didn't have because of everyone's comments here! icon_biggrin.gif
