I am so aggrivated. I bought the Wilton ribbon pan and I can't get that stupid glue that was holding the paper in to come out of the pan. How do I get that crap out of there? icon_mad.gificon_mad.gif I have tried my fingernails, I have soaked it in HOT water and tried washing in soap and water. Any suggestions on how to get that stuff off of there. I am baking the cake tonight for a cookout tomorrow.

I am not sure if it will work, but, nail polish remover should take it out and then just make sure to wash it VERY well after. I hope this helps. It has worked for me before, then I washed it and ran it through the dishwasher to make sure that it was all out. Good Luck!

if they're still using the kind of glue they used to (haven't bought one of the shaped pans in a log time) -- that sort clear, stretchy stuff....

try freezing it...that kind often looses its grip in the cold (like how bumper stickers peel off easier in subzero winter weather.

I know this sounds crazy but my son is a mechanic and a little of brake cleaning fluid takes it right off. I have used on pans and plastic and doesn't harm either one. Just wash the item in hot water and it is ready to use.

I use something from my scrapbooking stash called, "Goo Gone" which helps to remove stickers or anything sticky without damaging the item you are removing it from. You can pick this up at Michael's, Hobby Lobby or Joanne's. It will save you from tearing out your hair!

Goo gone works great! thumbs_up.gif You might also find it at your supermarket, homedepot/lowe's or hardware store.

I also had the same problem with a pan I bought a few months ago. I left it sitting in hot soap water. I finally had to scrub with a pot scraper to remove the stickiness.

WD-40 let it soak on the pan for a few minutes and wash. Takes it right off

I haven't tried the ''freezer method'' but will if I come across this problem in the future. What I have done is rubbed a gob of peanut butter on the nasty glue, let it set an hour or two and then keep rubbing it and the glue eventually will start rolling off in pieces. I think it's the oil as you can do this with mayo too. Prefer the peanut butter though.
Good luck.....

I rub the area with shortening or cooking oil. Sometimes nail polish remover will take the finish off the pan. Also, I've uses at "Goo Gone", it's made for that kind of stuff. But it's like the nail polish, you want to make sure it is really clean before you use the pan.

If I have pans like that I make sure I put some parchment paper in the bottom - then the cake doesn't really touch it. But I'll have to try those tips to get it completely off - which would be better anyway.

Speaking of dishwasher...is it possible to wash pans in the dishwasher without them getting discolored? It seems more sanitary that way but I've made several of my pans, esp shaped pans, quite ugly by doing so. icon_sad.gif

I've had good results removing glue by rubbing on vegetable oil with my fingers and then adding a drop or two of dish detergent to the spot before rinsing off. Repeat if it doesn't come off completely the first time.

Goo Gone. works great! (make sure you clean it really well)

And I like my pans discolored..the cakes turn out better when they pans aren't all shiny..at least in my crappy oven!

Goo gone does work great...I got some pans at a yard sale (can you believe someone would sell them so cheap!?) and they had tape marks on them. Took it off well.
