I am made a cakeroll with a chocolate cake flavored with a little bit of cinnamon.
I was thinking about what flovor filling to use inside the roll, and wanted to try something differnt. Do you think peach filling would be good, or do you think peach would clash with the chocolate flavor of the cake?
thanks for your input!
I don't know how "different" this is... but raspberry filling goes very well with chocolate. I get a lot of requests for mine --it is just raspberry perserves, shh.... ![]()
thanks...
I know, I lOVE raspberry with chocolate, too. But I can't use any berries beccause the filling can't have any nuts or seeds, and it needs to be something that can withstand not being refrigerated.
thanks for your help! Any other thoughts?
I make a cinnamon vanilla cake that I use a cinnamon buttercream icing with...just add a teaspoon of cinnamon and an extra teaspoon of vanilla to your buttercream...maybe that?
You can buy seedless preserves or you can make your own seedless filling. I did that this weekend. I thawed my raspberries in a pot with some sprite, I then took my handmixer and beat them a little bit until they were all broken up. I ladled them into a fine mesh strainer with a soup ladle, and then used the soup ladle to squish as much juice out as possible. I then took the pulp out and put it into a piece of cheesecloth and squeezed it some more (I wore rubber gloves for this part so that I didn't stain my hands), after that I threw out what was left. I then rinsed out my fine mesh strainer very very thoroughly and strained the juice through it several times. I had NO seeds in my filling at all.
A mocha filling would taste good.
