Ok, but what does GMT stand for? And how many hours + is Eastern Standard Time????
GMT is Greenwich Mean Time...the time in Greenwich, England. This is the starting point of every time zone in the world. This site tells you where you are relative to it.

you can also just double click on your computer clock and go to the Time Zone tab. It will say in parentheses GMT + or - however many hours your time zone is from GMT
example: I'm in Central Standard time so my thing says "(GMT -6:00) Central Time (US & Canada)" Which means Central time is 6 hours less than GMT
