So, my olde3st daughter is going to turn 9 at the end of this month. She wants a Bratz themed party. I figure okay, we can make ahandbag cake, but noooooooooooooooooo! She saw a picture of a pinata shaped like a bottle of nail polish! Great! That means that I don't have to use fondant, I can actually get away with a nice BC job and probably a chocolate transfer for the lable. Here's the question...... If I use 4 8inch cakes for the bottle with some 6 or 4 inch cakes for the neck of the bottle, should I use dowels and skewers to keep everything in place?

TIA!

Debbi

I would put a board or two in it, with dowel supports and a center dowel. It sounds tall and skinny to me.

Good question. I am in the same boat.

My daughter is turning 3. We have a pinata of a tube of lipstick. So I thought about making her a make-up(handbag) too.

But no... She wants a tube of lipstick. It might not be that bad. I just wanted to make the bag. But it is her party, so I have to TRY.. to do what she wants. icon_wink.gif

i would do a board every other layer, support dowels and one straight down the middle of all of them (sharpen with a pencil sharpener and hammer it in). i am far from expert at this but just did a stacked one this way and it was amazingly simple.. and i just read a post about doing every other layer board for support.

Sounds like I have a good reason to visit the local craft store! I think a dowel in the middle and a board every other layer will work..... AND allow us to save cake not eaten that day. I just hoper she doesn't want some garrish color! Gads! Knowing her. she'll choose street walker red!

lol, if she wants bright red try the Kool-aid! and, i was also told to put a light layer of powdered sugar under your cake boards so it is easier to take off later (wont' stick to the icing as much)... happy stacking!
