Bridezilla. Had someone call about a wedding cake and as usual, I give my website so they can view my cakes. Was told that one of my cakes was leaning and cake was showing on another. They were going with another business here in town. It really doesn't bother me except that you can see cake thru the frosting on almost all of their cakes.

They are also made from mixes. If you order an Italian Cream Cake, you get a white cake mix that they add coconut and pecans. I did check my website for leaning cakes...didn't see any...could be camera angle. And there is ONE cake that has a slightly thin spot on it. All in all, I am happy with all the cakes on my site.

So please remind me that this was a close call! Off to bake 4th of July cakes. Happy baking everyone!

sounds like you got the good deal out of the situation icon_smile.gif If they called you back, or wrote you to tell you those things I dont' think I would ever want to do business with them.. They could have just said, I don't see the style of cake I am looking for, thanks for your time. Geez some people.

Hey Mac, just went through your pics looking for the leaning cake and I didn't see it. As for a small spot of icing that is showing through one cake (I didn't see it). I have seen cakes in magazines with a small spot showing. All of your cakes are gorgeous so please don't let bridezilla get to you. Tell her to go to @$*!.

Hey Mac! Just went to your website and was just in awe of your work!! Fantastic site too. I'm wondering about the "leaning cake". Maybe they saw the whimsical cake and had no clue it's supposed to look that way. Some people just don't know what they are looking at and it's best to not deal with them. Sounds like you are going to be saved a lot of hassles on that one.

Have fun this 4th!

Why do some people have to be so dang rude! There was absolutely no reason for her to say those things to you even if they were true. I think your cakes are amazing. Keep up the good work! And I personally think you got a blessing by not having to fool with her.

Count your blessings that she is going to be harressing someone else from now until her big day. If she is like this today imagine how she will act as the wedding gets closer and the stress level gets higher.

Or better yet, they could have said nothing at all! When you're referred to a website, if you are not going to use them, there is no need for a return phone call. I'd say you are so lucky not to have to deal with her.

IMHO, you shouldn't doctor the photos you are using as representative of your work (unless you are just taking out unattractive backgrounds and similar). The cake is what the cake is. Let people see the work for what it is and let them decide.

Your cakes are lovely, though.

Maybe they were calling from the other business, trying to make you unsure of yourself? I'd put it out of my mind, they were more than rude, your cakes are lovely, wish i could turn them out like you do

Thanks everybody.

I guess it did bother me more than I thought. I've slept on it so I'm good. Have to focus now on 2 wedding cakes for this coming Saturday.

Yes, I know it bothers us some when someone makes criticism like this, even when they are trying to get a cheap deal for something really good, but like you said, just put it out of your mind and concentrate on your other cakes...

I"m not sure what she's talking about. The only one that looks SLIGHTLY leaning is #23 in the wedding section on your site. I think the others are just bad camera angles. If it matters to you, you may want to have someone fix them. It's an easy fix in Photoshop to just tilt the picture a little the right way to be more representative of how the cake actually looks.

As far as icing showing through - completely missed that! Couldn't find a single thing wrong with a single cake! They are gorgeous!!!

Someone should let this fruitcake know that whimsical cakes are supposed to be off kilter.....I didn't find the one with the cake showing through. She's a nut, you're well rid of her. With cakes like yours, you definitely don't need her business....

I looked at your website, the cakes are so beautiful. And I did not see one with thin icing, or one leaning. You should be proud of your work. Don't let her affect you.

Mac, just viewed your site...You have an amazing talent (hope to be there some day icon_razz.gif ) your cakes and cookies are absolutely gorgeous. Did not see what Bridezilla was talking about..maybe she thought the 'leaning' cake was your topsy turvy cake?? That is the only thing I could think of.

Keep your head high and your hands full of icing because you are amazing at what you do!!!! icon_biggrin.gif
