My wilton instructor had us wipe some crsico on the dowlels. They just slid right off. Try sticking them in the microwave for a FEW seconds - maybe if they got warm they would come off. I'm not sure but it's worth a try. Good Luck!
i can't help this time, but i had to chuckle b/c I did the same thing before ![]()
I now wrap my fondant around the dowel and only let it sit for about 15-20 mins. While it is still soft, but has taken the shape of the rod, I remove and place on a cookie sheet to finish drying (or place on the cake if I need them to be a little flexible) I have also done the crisco thing and that works well too!

I would definitely try the microwave, but since they are so thin, only do 2-3 seconds at a time.
