So, I am still fairly new to decorating. All i have now is a 8X2 round. I am wanting to buy another pan, (money is a little tight) so I only want to buy one that I will get some mileage out of. I have been debating between a 6 and a 10. What pan do you think would be one that I would probably use most.?

Thanks for your opinions and advice! thumbs_up.gif

i get the most mileage out of my 8". i actually had to get a second. i find the 6" sometimes is too small and the 10" is too big.

Guess it would depend on what sizes of cakes you might think you'll make the most. Personally I use the 8" x 3" the most. If you can, purchase Magic Line pans!
I'm taking about $250 worth of Wilton one's to the Habitat for Humanity next week.

It depends on what you're doing with it and how many people you're serving. For at home if we just feel like cake I like the 6" since there are only 4 of us and two of them are children but cakes that go out often need to be bigger to feed more people. I personally use the 6" more because I don't sell often.
If you wanted you could save up a little longer and wait until Hobby Lobby or Michaels has a coupon (40-50% off) and get a set of 6", 8", 10" and 12" for under $20.

I agree with Jessica. Another 8" is a good idea. That way both layers can be baked at the same time. To get the most mileage out of money, if you are tying to save is to buy a pan at Michaels with the 40% off coupon. I bought a few of theirs when I first started and they work well. thumbs_up.gif

Happy baking to you.

Thanks for all of your advice. It is always a little confusing to know what supplies are worth getting and which ones aren't. That is why I love this site icon_biggrin.gif
