But it doesn't look like that applies to the iron sets. Those seem like good prices, right?

I bought both of my cake plateaus at weddingcakestands.com. Their prices include shipping.

The Ironworks says $100.00 minimum order. Unless you know someone with a wholesale license and could go together to order a lot of these at one time, I think they are overpriced.

Look on eBay also.
I purchased a 14", a 16" and an 18" all for a LOT less than $325!

I emailed them and they said the minimum order deatils are screwed up on their site which is going through a redoing. They said they had no minimum and in july all prices will include regular shipping to all us cities in main land and they will not be raising prices. She asked me for my name and addy and is ending me more info and a couple of promo coupons and a coupon to use with my first order for 20 o/o off order total! Not too bad for me. I have looked at some on ebay and I keep seeing discoloration or cheaper stands selling for more than they are worth. But Like anything else on ebay it's really all a gamble till your holding it in your hand hu? icon_rolleyes.gif

yes ebay is a risk unfortunately. I am learning you nearly have to purchase from stores to be treated decently too. I was the only person to bid on a 12" majolica cake stand from a seller in AU, checked before bidding on shipping with her too. post that sale and my paying her via paypal within minutes (I paid $49 US for the cake stand and $36US for shipping).........I had four harassing emails post the sale wanting me to pay $12US more for shipping plus being lectured on how the stand retails normally for $130US ??????

so be very careful, I won't buy on eBay again unless it's a larger store operation, I also thought the premise of eBay is to find a good buy? go figure...

not to get off the topic of cake but, I hate ebay. I stay away from ebay. People on Ebay are trying to make money just like the rest of us. So if they can get away with gouging you they will, especially on shipping costs. OK, I'm done with my venting about ebay.
