this was actually my last class cake for Wilton I learning the BC roses. But also a practice run on doing two-toned wedding cakes, scrolls and pearls...thanks for looking!

ooooh, i absolutley love your two-tonne color. How did you get that effect w/o the colrs smearing on each other? I think it's beautiful.

I got the two toned look by doing the following:

1) iced white what I wanted white and then a little more.

2) covered the white with wax paper to make the line.

3) used my icing tip and iced the violet on and smoothed with a bench scraper.

4) carefully peeled the wax paper off.

5) used copier paper to smooth the icing and clean up the line.

6) decorated over the line with scrolls.

That looks very nice. You did a great job. It's something, isn't it, that once we learn cake decorating, we are constantly checking books, learning a new technique to try. We had no idea before we got into this just how much it entailed.
