What do you all use to flavor your frosting? Anyone use candy oils?

My family's favorite is caramel extract used in addtion to vanilla. My guys want that in place of plain buttercream every time.

I have used LorAnns oils before, just be VERY VERY careful you don't add a lot at a time, depending on the flavor you want, a little goes a long ways.

You can also use extracts, flavorings (next to the spices in the grocery store), Coffee creamers, the possibilities are endless. Just make sure you test it on a small portion of buttercream before you mix a whole batch if it is something new! hehe trust me, i learned the hardway, expecially with the candy oils.

I have flavored my buttercream with all kinds of things, things I can get at any grocery store. My favorite is orange extract, and I love lemon, too. I have never had a bad experience yet, so I say just try it all!

i just tried a batch of bc dream with a mixture of extracts. i used 1 1/2 tsp of clear vanilla, 1/2 tsp lemon extract, 1/2 tsp almond and 1/2 tsp butter flavor.

i think it came out pretty good, but i like bc dream anyway. this one is a tiny bit lemony for me.

i am looking for something a little less sweet than bc dream for my sister.
