Good morning, everyone. I just ran out of Butavan icon_cry.gif I was purchasing it from Sugarcraft but I just discovered that they no longer sell it. I knew that I needed some but hesitated because of the high cost of shipping at Sugarcraft and now it's too late. Anyway, I now find myself without any and several cakes to make on the 13th. Does anyone out there know of a place that I can order the Butavan from that's not extremely outrageous on their shipping? I really love this stuff but can't find it anywhere locally. I have come across something called Butter Vanilla put out by Magic Line. Is anyone familiar with this product? Thanks so much for your help!!!

I've never used that. I use something from my local cake store called "butter vanilla". Try doing a google search for "butavan"
Good luck.

OH, of course, why didn't I think of Earlene's? I've never ordered from there but I've heard only good things about her. Thank you so very much for your help. I appreciate it more than you know.

Your welcome. I would order the big one if I were you. Sugarcraft.com says that the manufacturer is not making it anymore. Bummer.

Yes, in my opinion, it makes the cakes wonderful. Butavan is a thick, creamy butter/vanilla emulsion and it gives it a wonderfully rich flavor. I gave it a try one day and everyone noticed a difference in my cake and told me that whatever it was that I had used to keep using it. Now I am asked each time that someone wants a cake to make sure that I use the Butavan in it. I also use it in my icing as well. Gives it a really nice, rich flavor. If you can get some, you really should give it a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I just wish that I had purchased more when I last ordered at Sugarcraft icon_cry.gif

just to confirm the earlier post...The company that make sthe Butavan tha Earlene and Sugarcraft were selling is going out of business. I called them directly to see if the product had nuts in it or not (it does not), and they told me they were going out of business.

I bought a butter-vanilla flavor from Here
http://www.partycakesnthings.com/
And I really liek their Lemon Emulsion.

FYI, the reason the elumsions leave more flavor is because they do not flashoff (cook away) during baking. So when you use an extract a large percentage of it gets cooked away. I notice a great difference in the lemon cookies, they taste as if they have fresh lemon in them.

Hope that helps,

Julia

YIKES - going out of business! Better stock up! I bought mine from Earlene (and here I thought it was her own creation!) and have LOVED dealing with her.

Maybe I'm mistaken but it costs 60.00 to order the 10 lb jug from Earlene's and 5.75 for 2 lbs. Wouldn't it be much cheaper to order 5 of the 2lb jars to equal the 10lb jug? I know its late so maybe my eyes are playing tricks!
