Boy do I ever feel like a silly blond broad!!
I just came from the Sherwin Williams storewhere I buy paint at least a couple of times a year. While I was picking up deck stain paint that was on sale, I thought I would look at the rollers to try that method everyone praises to smooth the top of a cake. There were tons of different rollers so I was taking my time to make sure I selected the correct one. The salesman came over to assist me with somewhat of a superior attitude so when he asked me what I was going to use it for, I laughed and told him he probably wouldn't believe it. He assured me he had just about heard every use for a paint roller so I told him. I certainly got the expected response and then some.
"You mean a cake?....like one you eat?" He then called over another salesman and in a less than quiet tone, told him and anyone else in the store, "Do you know what this lady wants to use this roller on....you won't believe it ......a cake....I sure don't want to eat that !" We all joked about it and I assured him he should only be lucky enough to eat one of my cakes.

I'm sure there were lots of "dump broad" remarks at my expense when I left but at least I gave everyone a good laugh.

If it wasn't so hot and if I didn't have other baking to do...... and if I was a lot younger, I would bake something and bring it back.

I avoid that and drag my husband with me lol. I told him what I needed and why I needed it and he just looked at me laughed and walked to the correct isle of Lowe's lol. That same day I bought a spakle knife to try that technique. I spent $10 on mine and told him he couldn't spend more then $5 on his for work lol. He got so mad lol. I told him mine have to last and be perfect his get damaged so easily why spend so much on em lol.

Anyway I've made my share of store employees question things and when they question weather it'd be worth it or taste good or whatever, I come home take time out from whatever else I need to do, normally cleaning and laundry lol, and bake them a cake and take a super smooth cake to them and they shut up and eat lol.

The first cake I used the Melvira Method on (pink and white in photos) got taken to the grocery store lol. People looked at me like I was losing it, you normally leave the store with the cake, not enter with a cake lol. So I took it to the cashier and I told her and the manager (a very good friend of my husbands) to shut up and stop teasing me and taste the darn thing and I got nothing but good reviews on my techniques and the taste and quality of the cake. Thankfully the bakery department was closed and all the bakery employees had left for the night lol. God only knows what would've happened if they had seen me handing out cards to bystanders lol
