Ugh why am i having so much trouble with this??

I have no idea how many pounds of MMF i'll need for this cake. I just want to know how many bags of marshmallows and powdered sugar i need to buy! Obvioudly that requires knowing how much fondant i need for the cake. :/ Help, please!

Thank you!

Lol I guess i should give basic demensions:

It's going to be a 17" x 12"pan and 6 inches tall...

After carving the cake should be 6 inches tall, 15 inches long, and 7 inches wide..
I hope thats enough...

Basically the same amount as a half sheet after carving...SO, I would personally (and I haven't don't tons of fondant to be fair!!) make two batches of MMF. I can use one batch to cover a 10" square or round and have some left over...I don't keep it super thick though. It's about the thickness of a nickel.

Does it take a double batch to comfortably cover a half sheet cake?

I'm sure I could probably use one batch...don't know how comfortable it would be. I guess I always make more and just store it so I have it next time. It's just as easy to throw more in and make two batches at once for me, and is inexpensive. I like to have it on hand for other cakes. I'm sorry if I'm not too much help.

I didn't think two batches would be enough for my frog groom's cake in my photos, so I made a third. Two would have done it and now I have almost a full batch of extra green. icon_rolleyes.gif Hopefully someone will order a green cake really quick!! LOL
