I want to use a crusted buttercream, then put fondant decorations on top. How do I do it? And what should I use to make them stick? Thanks!!!

Depending on the size of the decorations, I use a little of the same colored buttercream, squirt a dot on the surface, and attach the decoration. If it's a very small decoration, like a pearl, I use a small dot of clear piping gel. Both work very well, though the piping gel may take a little longer to dry.

I've always used piping gel to glue fondant to buttercream or fondant.

vanilla extract works great (was taught that in my Wilton class), i've also used buttercream. i'll have to try out piping gel like others suggested.
