Depending on how big it is going to be, I would say that it probably won't totally dry by 2pm. The outsides may bry, but the insides will probably still be wet.

They are not very big at all - I am making a half - sheet. I do not have any fondant nor the time to make any - plus I do not think that it would be dry either.

So, I thought about making small graduation hats all over the cake and putting something in writting. Will it hurt - if it is not fully dry - since here it is suppose to be 97 degrees - will the heat help it dry - or melt it???

Heat does help royal icing dry as long as it is dry heat and not humid.
