I am very new to cake baking and decorating. I carved a cake in the shape of a #1 and now I have a request from my husband to make a cake in the shape of a butt on a platter. It would be for a bunch of guys (their butts) so all the female one I have seen are wearing thongs - can't do that. This one would either have to be bare or wearing boxers /briefs. I need to keep it a bit clean since this is a workplace joke.

I don't know if the butt cake would be on top of another cake that looked like a platter or if I would buy a cheap silver platter.

Regardless, how do I make the butt (with partial legs or back, I think)? I don't own a bunch of pan sizes. I have 9x13, 10x10, 8x8, and 8" round. I also have the really big soccer ball pan by Wilton (not the small ball pan). Then, how would I frost it? It looks like most are using fondant and I don't know how to do that yet.

TIA for any and all tips, suggestions, advice.....

~Dawn

The sports ball pan would be good if you can get ahold of one. Bake the two halves, lay side by side on top of a 1/4 sheet and carve around to make a small part of the back and back of legs...

You can definitely use a crusting buttercream to frost. I did a boob cake and it was easy. Once you let the icing crust a little, take a Viva paper towel and smooth it out.

I can see on paper how to make it like Ironbaker suggests. I'm having more difficulties with cake freak's way.

Could I use cupcakes to form the butt if I don't have the small ball pan? Or could I somehow mold the scraps from the 9x13 into butt cheeks? My mind doesn't think in 3D.

Thanks!

In the XTRA Naughty book by Debbie Brown she has a really great cake idea. The picture shows a worker's backside showing a little bit of crack. He is wearing jeans and hastools on a belt clip. It might be a perfect idea for your cake. Funny but not too dis-tasteful.

Thank you, I will check that out. I can always adjust it to be the "tools" on a police belt.

I always use the puffed heart pan. Depending on what people want I also add a 9x13 for the body and carve the curves.

I've done a man's bottom with just a heart shaped pan. I would be happy to tell you how I did it if you still haven't decided on your design. And I did it only in buttercream.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've done a bikini cake and I used a heart pan with the sports ball pan. It was fun and easy to do!

Good luck!

I must be lame, but I can't find the naughty cake forum. I did see the pictures in the gallery, though and it did help to see something similar to what I want to do.
