I am going to be making cakes using Wiltons's 12 inch and 10 inch round pans. I'm cheating and using boxed cake mix. The Duncan Hines box says one box for 2 8-inch pans cooks 32-35 minutes.

Any idea how many boxes I would use in a 12in and 10 in pan? How long would they need to cook?

For the 10" use one cake mix and I bake mine at 350* for 45 minutes. For the 12" use 1 1/2 cake mixes and bake it at 350* for 55 to 60 minutes.

For future reference here is the wilton chart for how many cups of batter you need for different size pans.

Also a DH mix usually makes 5 to 5 1/2 cups on it own, if you add anything too it I would measure your first one and keep reference of how many cups it makes

At the bottom of the page is links to wilton chart information for 2" and 3" cakes and party/wedding cakes, depending on what information you're looking for, Batter amount for pans is same on all of them.

I would have to agree, except to get a more moister cake and less of a hump in the middle I bake mine at 325. Total difference!
