Funny, I just logged on to do a search on airbrushes and saw your post. I am sitting here with aching sholders from kneading colour into a gigantic lump of fondant, I was at it for 50 minutes! Knowing that i could have coloured the thing in a few minutes, not to mention that people won't have to eat half the amount of food colouring just made decide that it is definitively time for an airbrush. I hope you are happy with yours!

Other than doing cakes for just friends and family...it is techniquely just a hobby for me too, although I am aiming for it to become more when the little ones get a tad older! icon_biggrin.gif

I got mine for Christmas and I'm just getting to play with it more now. Need lots of practice, I didn't think it would be so hard to get even coverage, but that seems to be the most difficult part so far. icon_smile.gif

I have an airmaster and I LOVE it! Have fun! Not only is it a time saver (BakingGirl, I'm totally with you on coloring fondant and gumpaste), you can do a lot of cool techniques with it, too.
(I actually got mine as a Christmas present from my parents a year and a half ago and thank them profusely almost every time I use it!)

I have an airbrush as well and I think it is clearly one of my favorite tools. I agree with DianaMarieMTV- getting it all even is sometimes tough. I think it seems a bit easier on fondant than B/C though!

Good luck and have fun with it. The not so fun part will be seeing the multitude of colors you can blow out your nose when you done (gross...I know...sorry!) Watch out for the white...it will clog your airbrush ALL THE TIME!!!

When you are feeling kinda crazy, slap some Super Pearl in there with lots of vodka and spray your cake and watch it SPARKLE!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I have the airmaster, love it. Just did a fish for my son's party and used it to add pearl luster dust to a baby shower cake. I will be up loading pictures tonight. You will love it, Bronwen Weber suggested in a class to practice using coloring books. Tear the page out and learn how to make fine lines, etc. just like coloring but with an airbrush.

I use chef master colors and I am going to buy some americolor airbrush colors.

ENJOY

I would love to do that but I thought that the luster dust clogged up the airbrush. I didn't want to ruin the airbrush, so is it safe to do that? Thanks
