I have to make a cake and decorate a few days earlier than I would like to. I have read in a book that I could use a 'stock syrup' to keep it moist.

Has anyone ever used stock syrup for this? If so does it work? Is there anything I should know before I try?

Thank you for any help.

I'm thinking thats the same as simple syrup? (equal parts by volume water and sugar brought to a boil then cooled and you can flavor it)

I use it all the time (scratch baker) and it really helps keep things moist.
