I am in love with this! I first read about this in one of Toba Garrett's books. And I had to use it for the first time the other day and it works amazingly well! You mix cake scraps with bc.

In my case I baked a choc cake for the littlest pet shop cake I just did using a mix I don't normally use and it baked up really wonky so I decided to give her trick a try. I mixed the choc cake, bc and some of the raspberry filling into a paste but spreadable consistency. Then spread it on the sides of the cake to even it out. It tasted great and worked so well filling in the spots that were way uneven. Then I crumb coated and iced like normal. The best part was when we cut the cake you couldn't even tell where the spackle was!

Someone just told me about this trick at my cake club last week. Great idea! I'll have to try it myself.

so, could you use this like a crumb coating too? I think it would be yummy because you would get that extra flavor in each bite.
