I bring my cakes to room temp before putting on the icing. I also let the icing crust ever so slightly before applying an edible image....that way I can move it aound if I need too, I never seem to put it on in the right place icon_rolleyes.gif . It is not necessary to refrigerate the cake after applying the edibe image but you can refrigerate if you choose! Have fun and don't forget to post a picture for us!

someone told me i should spritz the cake with water before laying on the image so it adheres, should i do this, do you do that ?
I usually use snowwhite buttercream with the meringue powder and as you know this frosting does crust but was nervous about using this kind any suggetions?

..if your icing has crusted over, then it doesn't hurt to "LIGHLTY" spritz the top of your cake with a fine mist of water. I have done that on several occasions, just be sure to go very "lightly"!! Another option is to lay a moist paper towel over the top of your cake for a short period, then remove it and apply your image. Just know that if your icing is "wet" you won't be able to move the image around once you put it on the icing!
