IT IS usually a styrofoam cirle that is wrapped in plastic so that you can practice frosting and decorating it without having to go through the effort of making a real cake. usually it is used for builing up portfolios, or just for practice. I have also heard of people using rice krispy treat cakes for this same purpose.
