hi all, I am decorating a baby shower cake, most likely bottle shaped and i'd really like to make a buttercream icing or something like it but i dont want it to be rock hard and i'd prefer not to use crisco or something similar because its very very difficult to find here in Aust. If amyone has any idoit proof recipies for buttercram or royal or something similar i would really appreciate it. The shower is next sunday (9th july)
I promise i will post a pic of the finished cake!
thankyou ginger x icon_smile.gif

Ginger! Sometimes I substitute cream cheese for the crisco in a buttercream recipe. It's much softer than regular decorator BC. The only drawback is that in hot climates....unairconditioned....it will get pretty soft/melted. I reserve this for winter and/or airconditioned situations. It's very tasty!

Hi gingerkitten79,

You're going to love this site!

The recipes for cakes and frostings on this site are very good. I'm having great fun making both for my husband (family, friends, neighbors)... LOL

Anyway, here's a recipe that you might want to try:

Can't wait to see your cake!

Well that wont be a problem! Its the middle of winter here in melbourne, its currently about 4degreesC so it melting wont be an issue. Thanks for your advice!
