I am making a cake for a little girl who is turning 1, very simple 1/4 sheet, no big deal. I knew exactly how I was going to do everything, had everything planned out.
I was going to bake tonight and decorate tomorrow night, not to mention i'm making 6 dozen cupcakes for something else.
She told me she needed the cake on Saturday because she was going to leave early Sunday morning and head to her daughters, which is about an hour away.
I went to take my husband lunch tonight, at 8:30 (they work together)
And she asked me about picking up the cake tomorrow!!!!
WHAT!!!
I hadn't even started baking! she wants it by 3pm tomorrow, my family are night owls, usually up till 4p and sleep till around noon(I know weird it's dh work schedule)
I have plenty of time I guess but I was thinkg I had a whole day.
Not to mention I have a 17 month old son, who I have to chase around.
Oh well, hopefully I can get it all done tonight.
p.s This is my 1st paid cake, figures huh!

the only thing is ( and we don't like to do this with our paid cusotmers, especially first right?) I would probably have told her that I wasnt able to deliver (pick up, whatever) earlier than the day that she requested. ESPECIALLY if she just sprung this on you.
One thing that I have learned here on CC is that people think we just throw some stuff in a bowl and wah-laaa cake.
In my business (desktop pub) I am learning that if the customer does it once they will do it again (change things, add, etc.) at the last minute. (same with cakes). A friedn of mine was ask me if I can make a cake on a days notice.. I was like sure "if I don't have my quota of orders" she doesn't know that I don't have many orders, but what if I dont have time.. I can't have her thinking she cann just call me on Mondy aand be like i need a hafl sheet for tuesday.
What if (hopefully soon) you reach the quota of orders that you are able to accept in a days time and somebody just called and was like oh by the way I need that full sheet cake tomorrow instead of Saturday.

I know your cake is probably done, but you may want to call and make sure she is meaning to pick it up today. There is a possibility that she may have been confused about the date, and thought that "tomorrow" was Saturday, not Friday? I'm sure you did great...
