I just started decorating cakes from home and I was wondering if anybody has ever experienced making bacon or sausage in the morning and decorating that day and having the cake or frosting pick up the smell from the bacon? I have not experienced it myself but I was wondering if that can happen?
Thanks
I have not but my dh is banned from making it when I have a wedding cake in the house..... actually he stays clear of the whole kitchen if he is smart...LOL
some decorator in town is said to have cakes that smell like smoke... so I never have smelly things around with cake.
My hubby loves burning the fireplace, but he's really bad at it! I am PI$$ed because lots of times my house smells like a log cabin! My hair, my clothes, my furniture. I had to dry clean my coat because i had it draped over a chair and when I put in on, I about gagged!
He wants to buy another house and we're at a standstill because I will NOT sign mortgage papers if there is a fireplace in it! If we end up divorced, it will be because of the freakin' fireplace!
It ticks me off that he is so inconsiderate in this regard!
So when I was doing any baking in the house, he was NOT allowed fireplace time!
I have to agree with you on cakes picking up smells. I had a student that either smoked heavily or lived with someone who did. Every time she came to class there was the heavy smell of smoke. I used her bag one time to show her how to make a decoration and it even smelled of cigarettes. I would imagine her frosting and all smelled the same way. UGH!!!
