I have tried to order some things from sugarcraft.com several times, but when I go to check out, the cost of shipping always exceeds the cost of the items I have selected, and usually by a lot! I have read where people have found many of their ingredients and/or tools at Sugarcraft, but I'm wondering how anyone can afford to order them. Am I doing something wrong or am I just cheap?

I've also found Sugarcraft to be extremely high on their shipping. Matter of fact, I got an order together last week and when the shipping was calculated, I said forget it. Just can't justify paying that kind of shipping.

No, i'ts not just you, the shipping is very expensive. But what is the alternative? I have been told to go to kitchencollectables.com and that the shipping is free if your order is over $30. Well the cookie cutters are almost $10 each so that means I can buy 3 cookie cutters to get the free shipping whereas if I go to cookiecutters.com or foose, the cookie cutters are less than $2 each. Yes, I understand that the cookie cutters are copper at kitchencolleables so I guess you just have to weigh what is more important to you. Shipping is not cheap!

I've never gone through with an order either. I always get to that point and abandon ship! I just don't understand how it can be that expensive.

I'm know it's not THAT expensive for shipping....remember it's shipping AND "handling". I used to order from them a lot 4-5 years ago when I first started and it was never that much for shipping. It's gotten a bit ridiculous!

I could ask the cake decorating store to order it for me, but they'd have to have it shipped and mark up their retail price, so I don't know of any cheaper way get the tools I need without paying someone. This is a specialized field. Some of the tools/supplies may even be coming to the suppliers from outside the united states.

I just try to get by til I get a wedding cake or 2 then order enough to make it worth the shipping cost.

I do know if I ever have a problem, they will take it back or make it right. I can't say the same for the cake store here.

Sugarcraft charges actual shipping and handling so the shipping charge they quote is just an estimate. It's later recalculated to reflect the actual charges based partly on your location...further you are from them the higher the cost. I live relatively close so my shipping charges are reasonable and always less than quoted. I also get my packages in 2-3 days which is a blessing for last minute cake supplies that I can't get locally.

The problem is they have so many great items!! I end up ordering from other sources online because of that crazy shipping. I think they just put a percentage based on the price of the items and no matter what you order, that's going to be the shipping. Could be feathers, doesn't matter. KitchenKrafts.com (might be kraft, not sure) cakesbyjan.com, confectioneryhouse.com, streichs.com they all have a lot of great items and are not nearly as steep on the shipping. I also order wholesale (you need a business license) from CKproducts.com.

that's odd because i order from them specifically because they have the *lowest* shipping and handling charges. i live in indiana, though, so that may be why. now if you want to talk about high shipping cost, try beryl's, too bad because they have alot of neat stuff.
