(follow up to a discussion via PM -- sheet cake ruled out, tiers/3-D preferred, psurrette already had thought of tiers w/ field on top and baseballs holding up the tiers and I had already tossed out 3-D bat, glove, ball. so to continue....)

the new 2007 wilton yearbook shows how to use the new globe separator set to make what look like different types of sports balls holding up the cake...so could do all baseballs

just heard on the news that Ortiz will be in the all-star game.

soooo.....

what about a bunch of color flow stars each w/ a different team logo in it.

Top star would be Red Sock...but then...if possible, find out the names/logos of the teams the children at the training camp come from and do those for the rest of them...and scatter all over the cake.

can really go crazy w/ the stars all over the cake and on wires, etc. can do matching cookies if desired. stars could be in team colors.

building off his nickname...message might read: "He's our all-star Papi!"

(more later if thought hits)
