How about a white chocolate BC icing? That could go with quite a few different flavors of cakes that are not chocolate.

nope gotta be brown it is the look she is after she saw a cake in choc with pears the theme of the wedding is something about pairs forever and the grooms cake is a poker table... I do not understand that one either...

I am not doing a tasting until they decide what they want.... I am not a large bakery in a large city you can tell the brides have been watching tv lately

And really they called me because they had my cake at a wedding and loved it so it is not like they need to tasted a white cake.

Maybe Red Velvet cake? Or, if they aren't sure, offer them white or yellow cake and punch up the filling - some fruit flavors go very well with chocolate - cherry and raspberry happen to be my favorites icon_rolleyes.gif

I guess I dont' understand this? It has to be brown, but why a brown chocolate? can't you make a white chocolate BC icing and tint it the shade of brown she wants? Then the white chocolate flavor will have more options with flavor combinations?

Just my 2c

Do you have to ALL of the cake in one flavor? Maybe some could be chocolate...?? Yellow cake tastes good with chocolate, or maybe some kind of pound cake?

Merissa's idea of yellow or pound sounds like a winner. You might consider using a pear liquor to moisten the cake or a pear butter as part of the filling. That is if they like pear flavor not just the look of pears in the decoration.

You may not like this, but I think an orange butter cake with orange mousse is excellent with chocolate frosting or ganache, very gourmet. You can even brush the layers with orange liquor. Another option is a mocha cake with chocolate or mocha buttercream filling, yum!

I agree with leily; if the bride is just after the color and not necessarily the flavor of chocolate, just color the icing brown. Then you're back to loads of cake flavor options. If she does want the chocolate flavor too, though, then how about a cherry or strawberry cake? Those are classic complements for chocolate. (strawberry cake and chocolate BC happens to be one of my faves! yum!!)
