This is more for my non-licensed bakers. Do you ever advertise via email to all your old and current customers? I've tried this several times and it doesn't seem to work. I type up an email similar to what I would type on an adverstisement flyer. I put some color in the words, enlarge them, etc. Then I would reduce the price of a cake to see if I could get more orders.

For example, I sent out an email out with the following message:

4th of July Cake Special
Need a cake for your 4th of July cookout? Well you've come to the right place.

Your choice of chocolate or vanilla:

Flag 1/2 sheet cake for only $20 or

Support Our Troops Ribbon Cake for only $15

Order Yours Today!
Offer ends July 4, 2006

Of course, the text above actually looked better than that. I thought this would help pull in some more cake orders by having a sale. So I figured that if I do 10 cakes @ $20 each I would make about $200 in one day. Well no one has placed an order. icon_sad.gif

Should I even waste my time? Sorry this is a long message. icon_confused.gif

Has anyone else tried this and was a success?

I've never tried anything like that but it sounds like a really good idea. If I ever get good enough I might just try it myself.

Agent,

Are you sending these out to everybody at the same time? It may be getting picked up as a bulk mailing or SPAM by an e-mail filter preventing it from getting to your intended recipient....

I agree with Mak.. When I email a friend of mine it goes straight to her spam.. So maybe that is what is happening to yours..Maybe you could ask someone if the got your email...Good Luck

Or another suggestion might be attaching a picture of the cakes on "sale." A lot of people might need the visual to see what they are getting. HTH

I send the emails from my personal email address and everyone said that they received the email.

cmmmom, you may be right. If I attach a picture of the actual cake then maybe someone will order one. I did however put my web address so they could see what cakes I've done in the past. That way they will know that I will do a pretty good job with their cake.

I'll try again at a later date b/c it's pretty much too late to try to get any 4th of July orders.

Thanks all
