My niece and nephew are twins and they will be celebrating their 6th birthday in a couple of weeks. My niece wants a tinkerbell cake and my nephew wants a spiderman or other super hero cake. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to make a cake with two completely different themes? I thought of maybe using the book pan or making a sheet that is half and half. The cake has to travel 4 hours so it cannot be a stacked cake. I searched the galleries and I didn't have any results, if anyone has some pictures of cakes they have done I would love to see them! icon_biggrin.gif All ideas are welcome! icon_smile.gif

I have twins and REALLY like your book idea! You could make it look like a page from each book on each page. My twins are both boys and into the same thing so that's never an issue for me. But I have to say that the book idea is FANTASTIC! I just may have to steal it for the upcoming years when their tastes change! LOL

Why not just make 2 cakes? Does it have to be one cake?

Hi,
I just did a First Communion cake for twin girls using the book pan and gave each girl a page. It worked out perfectly. They each got to decide what they wanted on their page.

Michele25 your cake is beautiful! I had considered doing two cakes, but since I have travel so far it would be easier to transport just one cake. Does anyone know how many the book pan serves?

There are two book pans--a one mix and a two mix. The cake in my photo is made from the two mix pan. I estimate about 24-30 servings. If you need more you can put it on top of an 11x15" sheet cake. It fits perfectly on top and looks just like the book is thicker. You cannot tell it is on another cake. The bible book in my pictures that says "God Bless Ryan" is made that way.

I have b/g twins (who are 6 as well) we just always do two cakes. They have to share a birthday, they dont want to share a cake.

For my twin nephews, I did 2 separate cakes for them. My boyfriend suggested it as he said that twins usually get lumped together a lot and they are 2 separate people and as such should get their own cake. What I did for their birthday was make two 7x2" round cakes and topped each one with a mini bear stand up cake decorated to look like something (one was a Spiderman and one was a Care Bear). The pictures are in my photo album. You could probably do something like that or just make 2 8" or 9" round cakes and do a FBTC on each one.

I'm doing a cake for a set of twins next month, and what I came up with was a 11x15 sheet with two individual 6" rounds on top (single layer) specifically for the girls decorated to their specifics. Fairies for one, kittens for the other. I agree with Jaremcal, they already have to share a birthday the should at least have something individual. At least that's how my twins feel...(and my sisters twins, and my cousins twins) icon_smile.gif

Thanks everyone for your help. I have decided to do 1 9x13 cake for each child. That way they will each have their own cake to blow the candles out on. Not to mention I can add even more details to their cakes if I don't have to share one surface icon_biggrin.gif ! I can't wait! I wish their birthday was this weekend instead of the end of the month! Time to start planning!!! icon_biggrin.gif
