As i mentioned in the post below i've been busy w/baking cookies. not decorating much. but my tragedy.... well it looks like i'm allergic to the Flour or something. I have made cookies twice, in the past 2.5 wks and i start sneezing. runny nose, eyes itchy. It's terrible. I wanna cry when this happens. baking has become my life i don't wanna have to give it up.
So yesterday i went to the dollar store and got those masks and goggles they use in construction. Hope that helps me. Cakes i use boxed mixes. I made pizza dough, but didn't bother me. i guess cause i didn't deal w/the flour directly. i can't think of what else could be bugging me.

Oh that doesn't sound like fun....I couldn't imagine having to deal with the thought of being allergic to baking. Hopefully the stuff you got helps, and if not at hopefully you can narrow down what it might be. My thoughts and good wishes are with you icon_wink.gif

Are you having seasonal allergies right now? If thats the case, it could just be the dustiness of the flour is trigger a flare up. If you were truly allergic you most likely wouldn't be able to eat anything with flour, which doesn't sound to be the case. What all was in the cookies? Is there anyway you could go and get some allergy-testing done?

I thought it was the flour cause i also made chocolate chip cookies, recipe posted here recently. I felt the same way. i can't remember off the top of my head the ingredients. but i didn't feel like that til i started using loose flour.
I'm not having seasonal allergies right now.

If all else fails try to take some over the counter allergy medicine about 1-2 hr before you start to bake. I have to give it to my dd#1 because flour dust gets her allergies going which in turn gets her asthma going. It seems to help her. Good Luck

Boy can I relate to that. I was a florist for 27 yrs. Around 5 yrs. ago,
growers must have started using a different pesticide because I developed a severe allergy to the flowers. My face would swell up
and it looked like I had sunburn. My face would actually peel. I tried everything. Eventually, when I had to get a steroid med from the dr,
but I would only use it if I had someplace to go after working with the flowers. It became so bad....I had to give up the profession. Grammytofive
