I made fondant the same recipe I always make but this time it was royal blue. I feel this is what made it crumbly and tear. I used paste coloring by Wilton. Is there another coloring product that would have worked better and not done this? icon_confused.gif

Bumping you back up to the top. I know that some CC members mentioned that happening when getting fondant a darker color. They mentioned adjusting for it, but can't remember what they said to adjust. So hopefully someone will answer the question for you=) Jen

Sorry, I have used the same Wilton coloring and not had a problem. Was it crumbly before you added the color? Have you tried to add a little crisco?

I've also noticed this - certain colors will make it seem to want to tear. Adding more shortening doesn't seem to help too much nor solve the problem. I work with my fondant regardless by going back over it with the fondant smoother as soon as I cover the cake.

I used some Americolor (buy it here on CC) for some purple fondant and it did much, much better coloring fondant than the Wilton.

It is the flower cake in my pics.
