I was just wondering if anyone has used the pettinice fondant and if you have, how it compares to the satin ice?

I likes it better than satin ice, I do alot of figure molding and the satin ice was a bit sticky for me, but I guess that would be great for covering cakes.... I guess itt depends on what you use it for...

I only use pettinice as the old brand of fondant (australian made) was too soft and wouldn't hold up in hot weather.
The pettinice stays nice and straight, no drooping and it is easy to model with.

Where do y'all buy pettinice fondant? I found it at Swiss Connection for a decent price but I'm not sure about their shipping. What do you think?

For cake covering, I'd have to say that my favorite is Satin Ice, followed by Pettinice and then MMF

I buy my stuff at a local place here in Indiana. They have reasonable shipping.

I prefer SatinIce to Pettinice. I seem to have an easier time w/ SatinIce, although I have about 15 lbs of Pettinice I need to use up first. To me, anything is better than making it! icon_lol.gif

The only fondant I have tasted is MMF. Other than the Wilton brand, do the others taste like MMF? I am thinking of buying but wish to know what kind of taste it is.

I use this all the time - I find it great. I haven't had a go at making MMF yet it just seems like alot of work!

Here in New Zealand we're not spoiled for choice in fondant brands....!

Mary, in my opinion I think that the satin ice just tastes like a very thick chewy ball of powder sugar. Wilton, no matter what you flavor it tastes like crap IMO. I heard that the sweet inspirations white chocolate raspberry fondant is very good. I haven't had the pleasure of using it yet.

I got to tryt he sweet inspirations white chocolate raspberry fondant and it is very good but it is EXTREMELY overpowering in flavoring. I would struggle to eat that with any cake I make.

I like to use chocopan fondant. The shipping is very reasonable, it rolls out thin so that you are using a lesser amount to cover cakes, and the taste is very good. Just tried the choc this week. It's yummy. icon_razz.gif
