I know it says that a greasy feeling is normal- but mine also looks greasy. I'm afraid of storing it next to anything else- will it rub off onto other things?? Does this happen to yours too?

Mine looks and feels a little greasy, but I've never had anything rub off of it onto anything.

ditto karateka. I think it's just the nature of the silpat to be shiny and slick.

Both my silpats have that greasy feeling -- no matter how much hot water I use - it still comes out greasy. For storing - I use the cardboard tube type packaging that whisky comes in. The containers are a perfect size for the mats and they keep them from getting squished in the cupboards.

May I ask where everyone bought their's at and what they paid for them? When I look up silpat on google, there are tons of different sizes and costs that come up under amazon. I just received a 20% coupon in the mail for LNT. Would it be worthwhile to look there? The closest one around is about 45 miles away.

I've never found silpat big enough, but I just saw that Ateco carries some similar stuff that is HUGE! I am SO getting one after I get my first paycheck for my job...

they are SUPPOSED to feel greasy...

that's the built-in non-stick feature.

don't try to get rid of it or the mat will be ruined.
