I just realized that I really dont have all the right tools to properly make hydrangeas. Where's the best place to get this stuff? There's soo many options online it seems but I dont want to spend too much if I can help it.
Try Michaels or Hobby Lobby if you have one by you. I'm working on a hydrangea cake for my niece this weekend. I'm using a flower shaped cutter approximately 1/4 inch diameter. I'm just rolling out the gumpaste using a fluffy paintbrush to apply powdered color, cutting them and shaping them on the end of the paintbrush. I also am using shaped cake balls for the base of the flower and attaching the individual flowers to that with royal icing.
Back to your original question, lol, I know I've seen the cutters at Hobby Lobby.
Funny, I just finished making about 200 Hydrangeas...
I have the cutters and veiners that Global Sugar Arts carries and they are fantastic! The only thing that was time consuming to me was making the little buds. After I made them all, I came across this nifty little tool--would have made the buds so much easier...:http://www.firstimpressionsmolds.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2190 I may end up ordering it anyway--the hydrangeas are so easy!!
Thanks you guys! That first impressions site is amazing... I am going to spend waaaay too much money if I'm not careful ![]()
