I am doing a bridal shower cake where the BTB requested cream cheese icing. Will cream cheese icing allow for decorating? She wants a rose bouquet on the top. I found the crusting cream cheese icing onthis site and am going to give it a shot. I was just curious if someone has tried it before.

I have decorated with plain cream cheese icing and it was workable.....just took a little time getting used to! If I had it to do over again I would add more powdered sugar than normal. I have not tried the recipe on here.....HTH

I can't decorate a thing with regular cream cheese icing, it's way too soft. However, the crusting cream cheese frosting recipe from this site was great for decorating. I made the most beautiful roses with it. Also did borders, and writing ( w/piping gel added).

I made this icing as a practice round this week, and it came out very, very greasy. icon_cry.gif DH was helping me and melted the butter opposed to softening it. Could that have caused the greasyness?

Well I really don't know if that woudl cause it to be greasy, but I have never found mine greasy soo.... I use the crusting cream cheese from here quite oftena nd people rave. I also add a few drops of cheesecake loran flavoring. Yummy.

And if you find you don't like the tsture to make roses (though i once made 60 form this frosting) you can always jsut ice with cream cheese and do the roses in reg BC. I guess unless she takes issue with that...
