Making Fondant Figures More Stable/hard...
Decorating By nickymom Updated 4 Jun 2007 , 1:42am by jescapades
I've made a scarecrow and pumpkins from fondant before and they turned out good but I noticed my scarecrow "settled" down a little more than I had wanted.....I am going to be making fondant wrestlers soon for my sons birthday cake and was wondering how I could get them form settling like my scarecrow did. Everything Ive learned about cakes, fondant, decorating has been pretty from this site so I'm sure y'all will the answer to my problem.
Thanks in advance,
~Nicky
p.s. also I'd like for the wrestler figures to still be edible
i was just about to reply with an idea when i read your 'ps'. i was going to say to mix gumpaste with your fondant, but then you probably don't want to eat them.
maybe someone else has an idea?? hmmmm...
I use corn starch when I make my figures...it helps them dry a little faster and helps to stop the sagging. Also I form the body first then work on making the head, arms and legs.....then attach it together....it gives the "torso" a kinda head start on drying.
hope that helps some... ![]()
Here's a question ~ isn't gumpaste edible? I know it doesn't really taste like much, but I thought it was edible? If not, someone let me know, since I bit a piece off a gumpaste flower about a month ago!!!

this is from the wilton website:
Gum Paste decorations are edible; however, they are seldom eaten because they dry very hard.
